How we talk here
We borrow four ideas from the Constitution for Thinking in Public.
- Truth over tribe. Agreement is not evidence and disagreement is not disloyalty. Where truth and belonging conflict, truth wins.
- Steelman first. Before you rebut a view, state the strongest version of it, one its holder would call fair.
- People are not propositions. Challenge the claim, not the person making it.
- Attention must not outrank truth. Do not overstate to win clicks or replies. Good ideas do not need exaggeration.
